MSP430F67751A: Maximum storage time

Part Number: MSP430F67751A

Hi,

our company uses a certain amount of micro-controllers from the MSP430F family. Due to covid-19 the storage times in the warehouse will increase considerably. What is the maximum storage time without compromising its characteristics in order to be welded without problems?

Thaks.

  • Hi Frank,

In the following documentation (http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slaa334b/slaa334b.pdf page  4), you can see the data retention time. This is given to about 100 years. This is not the storage time, but if they feel confident about even that, I think you can safely say these chips can be kept for a couple of years at least.
My company stores some as well for a few years already, and they work just fine. At least I have found no problem with them.

We also use them for longer durations in our applications (from 2 years and some still need to be operating in a couple of decades, at least we expect).

So for storage of just a couple of months, you should not need to worry I think.

    With kind regards,
    Yannick Daelemans

  • Hi Yannick,

thanks for the reply, in the meantime I found this application note AN-2029(Handling and Process Recommendations) . I think it may be interesting for those who ask themselves the same question.

    Thank you.  Frank.
