MSP430FR2522: MCU Selection

Hi Team,

My customer now want to select MSP430 to detect the capacitive touch buttons on the car, which need to meet at least the operating temperature of -40-100, do you have a suitable recommendation?

The specific application scenario is a main MCU + an auxiliary MCU, the main MCU is responsible for CAN \ LIN communication, and the auxiliary MCU (MSP430) is responsible for the detection of capacitive buttons. If there is a single-chip MCU that can meet the two functions better.

Could you please give some guidance? Thanks!

we do have a device family covering the temperature range -40 to +105.

MSP430FR267x

Hi Kostas,

Customer's ECU is the roof reading lamp controller. And only need to detect two touch buttons.

If use MSP430FR267x, it is too powerful for such a simple application.

As customer's feedback, they also consider using MCU ATSAMC 21,which is belong to Microchip.

Do you have some suggestion about replacing microchip solution?

Hallo Amelie,

in this temperature range these are the 4 captivate devices we have.

It can not really be compared with the MC solutions, as this is a Cortex M0+ with all the peripheral modules and also including capacitive touch.

Unfortunately we don't have any capacitive devices on Cortex yet.

I would consider this device as an overkill for this simple application compared to our devices. Why does the customer need all the additional features for this simple application?
