EEPROM / Flash for data log and store with MSP430F2619

Hello all,

I am looking for some nvm to log data. I need atleast 50MBytes for long term logging from a sensor.

Can anyone suggest any memory chip that I can use ? Most EEPROMs I looked at max out at 8Kbits and flash at 64Mbits.

I could use a microSD card but am trying to find something that will consume least amount of power.

Which is the best route ? Id be glad if anyone can answer this.

Pankil,

If you do not want to go the SD route, you would have to use a few of the serial flash devices. I saw numonix has a 128mbit device, so 4 of these would get you teh data that you are looking for, and then use a chip select for each of the devices.

Have you thought about implementing a simple compression algorithm?

I did a quick search and came up with a few articles. I am sure a little more "googleing" would yield some more results.

I am not sure of the sample rate of the data vs. the time it takes to run some of these algorithms, but its just a thought.

Hi Pankil,

I don't know any EEPROMs that large!

I don't know the price of the Macronix parts, but I think a microSD card would be the cheapest option.
