Looking for a few answers on the MSP430F2417TPM:

What is the state of output signals when the MSP has been programmed but is being held in reset?
What is the state of output signals when the MSP is being reprogrammed through JTAG, but has been programmed in the past?
Is it safe to assume all I/O signals are in HI-Z when the MSP has never been programmed (i.e., received from factory)?

Hi Michael,

1. When the MSP is held in reset, the IO will be set to high impedance input mode. Section 2.1.2 of the users guide shows the device initial conditions. Also, the thread below has some discussion around this topic. As soon as the RST pin is pulled low, the BOR is active and GPIO are switched to inputs.

2. I think that this would also put the IO in input mode, but I need to verify this. I will let you know whether that is confirmed.

3. Yes, IO signals will be high impedance inputs when powering up an unprogrammed device.

Michael,

Confirmed on #2 as well. Reprogramming will reset the device, which will set the IOs to high impedance inputs.
