CCS/MSP430G2231: compare two frequencies

Hello everyone,

I have a question I'm using the msp430 launchpad with msp430g2231.I'm using it to measure frequency and the datasheet says that only pin 1.0 is capable of doing so.

My question is can I compare two frequencies somehow. By compare I mean get their ratio. It may be a stupid question but I can't find information anywhere.

I'm guessing you're doing frequency counting by feeding your signal to TA0CLK. Where is the other signal coming from?

the same place they are being switched with a multiplexer. I was wondering can I save the value of the first frequency in a variable then switch the multiplexer and get the ratio of the new frequency and the one i saved.

I don't see why not.

You'll need a "trigger" of some sort to indicate that the frequency is changing. The multiplexer selection pins might be useful for this if you can reach them. Or maybe a button push.

You'll presumably want to reset the counter when it switches, and allow a settling time before you use the measurement.
