Using Fet-Pro430 lite - Cannot program device

I am trying to use the Fet-Pro430 lite to load the .out file that I have created in CC4.  I can use the CC4 debugger and load the code just fine and debug it.   I'm trying to use the

FET-Pro430 lite so that I don't have to use the debugger to load.  I can get into the FET-Pro430 lite and do a Verify.  This works and verifies okay.  It shows me that my target

is MSP4302274.  So I go to group and I set it to MSP4302xx and below that set it to MSP4302274.  When I try to program or verify, I get the following error:

The FET-Pro430 free version works only with Texas Instruments' FET adapters.  If the 3-th party adapter is used, then the Fet-Pro430 should be used.

Is there no way to do what I am trying to do with the lite version?  Or I is there something else I am doing wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Gary Lanehart

  • Hi Gary,

What programming tool are you using?  I have seen this error when FETPro-430 cannot access the FET430UIF because it is still being used by Code Composer - as soon as I stop the CCS debug session from running FETPro-430 works quite happily.

  • In my experience, every time the program is launched, you need to reconfigure the USB.

Go into the connection options screen and switch from USB to LPT1, and then back to USB again. This will force the program to look for USB devices.

Once the toggle is complete and USB is selected, you should see "Automatic" and "COMXX", where COMXX represents your FET (and XX is some number which is decided by your operating system). At this point it is safe to choose automatic as long as COMXX was in the list.

If you have multiple FETs plugged into the PC, you might have to choose the COM port specifically. I've never tried this myself, so I don't know if it is necessary or not.
