Startup times?

I have a customer interested in optimizing startup time for MSP430.

Per the customer, the startup time of any crystal will not allow the MSP430’s clock to be stable until about 300ms following POR going high.

Are there any MSP430 variants or close families to it that have much faster startup times?

    Crystals start up slowly -- usually estimated in some number of crystal ticks. I watched a 32kHz crystal take >1 minute to start up when I took it outside in the Winter.

    My experience is that I rarely need ppm-level clock accuracy during my startup code. There's nothing wrong with doing other things while the crystal stabilizes.

    You didn't mention which series you were thinking of, but e.g. the (internal) REFO in the FR2 series starts up in 50 usec, and it's "pretty good" (+/-3.5%) [Ref msp430fr2311 data sheet (SLASE58E) Table 5-7]
