Hi Champs,

Our customer would like an automatic USB FW update from Android.
so is it possible to build a custom USB BSL?

For example, if a GPIO is set to HIGH, MSP430 goes to USB BSL mode and update the FW through USB CDC, etc.

Hi Hitoshi

The MSP430 BSL support software invoke, you can make a GPIO interrupt to trigger the USB BSL. But we don't have a demo for Android host.

Is there any document like application note how to trigger the USB BSL?
I was not able to find docs.

If device is erased ( if at address 0FFFEh is value 0FFFFh), than after power-up or reset device will enter to factory HID BSL automatically.

If device is not erased, than PUR button must be used in combination with reset or power-up, to enter BSL.

Reset can be generated by device itself, using WD in program.

Executing program also can directly jump to BSL code.

“1.3.2 Software BSL Invocation” in the document could resolve the custom USB BSL.
