MSP430F5659: VUSB output when reset occurs

Hi Champs,

I believe that reset is needed just after the FW is updated through USB BSL which software invokes.
When MSP430F5659 is reset, is VUSB kept HIGH if VBUS is kept the voltage without any drop?

An external circuit uses the VUSB voltage and it should keep high before/after reset.

Hi Champs,

According to the Figure 42-2. USB Power System in the TRM, it seems that the internal LDO outputs 3.3V if VBUS is applied.
Aslo, VUSBEN = 1 as default.
VSUB outputs 3.3V if VBUS 5V is applied even though MSP430 is reset.

Could you please clarify.

Hi Hitoshi,

According to the users guide, table 42-9, the 3.3LDO is enabled by default. So coming out of a POR or reset due to a FW update, the LDO will remain on. This makes sense considering the 3.3LDO can also supply VDD for the MSP. If the LDO did not stay on during the reset event the MSP430 would power down during this time.
