Hello,

We have a J7 based custom gateway board (https://www.ti.com/tool/J721EXCPXEVM ) and we added MSP430F5529LP in it for power management. MSP430F5529LP has I2C connection to our J7 board. J7 based

board has Linux running in it. I would appreciate if you can answer following questions -

1) Could you please let me know what are the SW's get loaded into MSP430F5529LP from factory?

confirm if we can update firmware for MSP430F5529LP over I2C? If Yes, Is the steps mentioned in this link is correct for MSP430F5529LP part?

3) Where I can find the prebuilt firmware for MSP430F5529LP?

5529 is factory loaded with HID BSL. BSL is placed inside BSL segments flash memory and can be reflashed with another version (UART for example). JTAG fuse value is located inside BSL segment, so take care to not brick device.

All BSL sources (for all flash devices) and binaries can be found inside (if I remember right) old slau319. Or somewhere here...

Hi Zrno,

Thank you for the reply. It answers my first question. For now we are not looking to make any changes in BSL so I guess factory loaded BSL should be enough for us.

Could you please help me find answers for rest of my question? i.e.

2) I found a link i.e. https://www.ti.com/lit/an/swra500/swra500.pdf?ts=1604285947393&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.google.com%252F which says that firmware can be flashed over I2C. Could you please confirm if we can update firmware for MSP430F5529LP over I2C when we first time receive part from factory? If Yes, Is the steps mentioned in this link is correct for MSP430F5529LP part?

Satish,

The MSP430F5529 comes loaded with the USB BSL, so you would need to reprogram it to use I2C. This is available at the MSPBSL page below. You can also find the example code on this page. Look in the section "customizing the MSP BSL".
