What MSP430s does launch pad support?

If I can connect the wires (DIP to SOIC or DIP to TSSOP) will the launchpad work with MSP430F21xx and/or MSP43022xx?

I'm currently using the EZ USB programmer which is documented as supporting F21xx. It doesn't.

I'm especially interested in anyone who has used a launchpad for an F21xx.

Has anybody actually done it?

  • Hi Bob,

the docu claims that ALL Spy-Bi-Wire devices were supported. Well, I haven't tested that so far *g* but I think you can expect to have (al least) support for:

    • CC430F51xx
    • CC430F61xx
    • MSP430F20xx
    • MSP430F21x2
    • MSP430F22xx
    • MSP430F41x2
    • MSP430F54xx
    • MSP430F54xxA
    • MSP430F55xx
    • MSP430Gxxx

This is what the latest eZ430U firmware (the one from the CHRONOS kit) is supporting. Since the 'EMULATION' part of the launchpad is a eZ430U too you should not have any problems in debugging the MSP430F21x2 series.

    Kind regards

  • I didn't realize when I asked, but I asked the wrong question. What I was looking for was a MSP430F2xxxx in a SOIC package with SPI. Turns out you can get one or the other, but not both in an F21xx.  Oh, well...

    Bob

PS There are some F1xx that may fill the bill.

  • None of the 1x devices (AFAIK) supports the SBW protocol. They are only programmable by JTAG while the LaunchPad programmer does not provide JTAG support.
