CC1200: CCA functionality

For 2) No. Clear Channel Assessment only looks for energy in the channel (RSSI).

For 2) The packet mode being turned off means that CCA mode=000

Most of the CCA mode options are related to packet mode. If you want CCA you can look into CCA mode = 0x1.

If you want CCA functionality when using transparent mode you may have to implement this manually. We have not tested CCA together with transparent meaning that you have to do some testing yourself to see what works and not.  

You're a lifesaver, TER:

    Our normal sensitivity is about -118dbm with thresh set to -117.

    I'm presently doing CCA manually by raising the agcthresh to -105dbm then looking for CSvalid and CS.

If CS is high (with CSValid) for about 0.1 seconds then I consider the channel to be active. 

This works with a continuous modulated Carrier on the channel but doesn't work is a message comes across the channel.

And this method takes time

and reduces sensitivity while being done. So I was hoping the chip's CCA could do this in the background.

Now believe this is the best I can do, or do you know of a better system?

     Appears I've been all wet.  Apparantly all that's needed is to read register RSSI1 anytime for the current RSSI.
