MSP430F2274: Converting an MSP430 .out (elf) file into the TI-TXT hex file

Did you get msp430-gcc as part of CCS? CCS has a program "hex430" which does this. On my (Windows) system it's in:

/ti8.1.0/ccsv8/tools/compiler/ti-cgt-msp430_18.1.5.LTS/bin/hex430

No, did not get the CCS, but will now install it on my Linux machine and look for the hex430 utility.

From my makefile:

    $(GCC_DIR)/msp430-elf-objcopy -O ihex eforth.elf eforth.hex
 

Looking at your line, it seems to me that it converts the file from elf to Intel hex format.

I am after the TI-TXT hex format, unless TI-TXT hex and Intel hex formats are the same?!

It works with MSP430Flasher.

The srecord library claims to support ti-txt if you must go that way.

I have looked at the help and am not sure how to convert a file x.out to x.txt-hex?

Something like this:

$ hex430 -i x.out -o x.txt-hex --ti_txt

or ....?

Not sure about the syntax.

I just asked CCS to do it for me and it came up with:

"C:/ti8.1.0/ccsv8/tools/compiler/ti-cgt-msp430_18.1.5.LTS/bin/hex430" --memwidth=8 --romwidth=8 --ti_txt -o "Blink-2553.txt"  "Blink-2553.out" 

[Edit: I vaguely recall it doesn't do well with blanks in pathnames, so avoid that.]
