MSP430FR6047: Internal Temp sensor inaccuracy

Hi,

I am using the MP430FR6047 internal temp sensor to measure the ambient temperature of our system but we are seeing a very wide range of temperatures when reading it back. If the temp reading was more stable we could calibrate this to help get a better reading. Is there any way to improve the general performance of this sensor and the read out to be more stable?

Hi Jose,

We typically don't recommend using this temp sensor for accurate temperature readings. This is giving the temperature of the die inside the chip.

Thank you for the feedback, and i understand for future cases. Since this is already on a board, is there any work around or way to help improve this at all?

1) Are you using a sample/hold time (SHT) of at least 30usec? [Ref User Guide (SLAU367P) Sec 34.2.11]

2) Are you using the TLV temperature sensor calibration constants? [Ref data sheet (SLASEB7C) Table 6-46]. This is demonstrated in Example msp430fr60x7_adc12_10.c here:
