MSP-FET: Overall power consumption for MSP430x Hardware Tool

I'm trying to determine the current draw for the MSP430x hardware tool:
Figure 2-3 in this document shows the circuit I need to build -

I'll need some 3.3V rail for that and other circuitry, and I need to design a buck, LDO,
or even resistor divider, but I can't make a decision without knowing exact current draw.

Hello Charles,

Sorry, your image didn't come through. Are you asking for the current consumption of the MSP-FET? I don't think we specify that anywhere. The circuit in figure 2-3 shows the connections and circuit needed for your target device, but the MSP-FET device is powered via USB. J1 and J2 are used to select the power for the target.

I'm asking for the current consumption of the 3.3V rail, which I'm sourcing from an on-board LDO.

The picture I attached was just a snip of figure 2-3.

Hi Charles,

Sorry for the long delay. The thread below has some good discussion on this. It will really come down to the specification of the MSP430 that you are using. Typically, this would be on the order of 10 - 15mA max. Typically, we would just use a 150mA LDO.
