MSP430FR2355: eUSCI_A0 Registers set as UART mode

Part Number: MSP430FR2355

Hello. I want to move the UART mode of eUSCI when BRCLK is 2MHZ, but I don't know the setting value.
I tried to refer to Table 22-5. Recommended Settings for Typical Crystals and Baud Rates in www.tij.co.jp/.../slau445, but I couldn't find it.
I want to set UCA0BR and UCA0MCTLW, what should I do?

  • Eason Zhou

    Thank you very much.
Thanks to that, I was able to drive it at 2MHz, which was a solution.

    I have two additional questions.

-Of the values obtained by selecting Clock and Baudrate on the provided site, they are different from the recommended values shown in Table 22-5 of the User Guide.
What is the difference between the recommended values in Table 22-5 and the values provided on the site?
For example, looking at the recommended values for Clock: 4MHz, Baudrate: 38400 in Table 22-5, the secondModReg is 0x20, but the provided site shows that the secondModReg is 0.

-Also, on the provided site, TX Error (%) and RX Error (%) as shown in Table 22-5 were not calculated. Can you tell me?

  • Hi,

First you need to choose ESUCI

Besides, I find the value saved in secondModReg is wrong. I advice you refer to our UG.

For the way to calculate TX Error (%) and RX Error (%) , you can refer to 22.3.12 Receive Bit Timing – Error Calculation in the UG

    Eason

  • Looking at user guide (SLAU445I) Table 22-4, the entries for 0x20 and 0x11 are neighbors, i.e. not very different. The distinction could be a matter of rounding error.
