MSP430FR6047: Questions about USS flow meter

Part Number: MSP430FR6047

Hi to all!

I'm working with MSP430FR6047 for a flow meter application. My setup require a microcontroller as master and the MSP430FR6047 as slave. They communicate using I2C.

I have a few questions about the configuration parameters:

  • My idea is to use (with a little modifications) the header files generated by the Ultrasonic Design Center in my master and with these, update the configuration parameters in the MSP430FR6047. Is this a safe operation or i need to include some other files? Please note that my master isn't a TI microcontroller, so i cant use the TI library. If this operation is hard, there is a better way to update the configuration parameters using the generated files from the Ultrasonic Design Center?
  • I have reads that to update the config parameters i need to use the Request Application Configuration Update command (0x96), but is unclear when I must sent this command. I must sent this command before or after sending the configuration parameters?

Best Regards

  • Hello Iuca,

I apololgize for the delayed response.

Yes, it is okay to use the header configuration files generated from the GUI.  Standard I2C driver from your other MCU vendor should work okay.

The request application configuration update should be send after the configuration parameters.

  • Hello Eddie, i'm sorry too for the late response.

We have adopted the way of using xml to import user data, so my first problem is solved.

The problem now seem to understand the correct sequence of the various commands to manage correctly the MSP430 USS.

However for now i haven't any question, so many thanks Eddie!
