MSP430FR6047: direct UART communication to the chip

Part Number: MSP430FR6047
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EVM430-FR6047

I am trying to test the UART function of the MSP430FR6047. I get an echo signal with the example project "msp430fr60x7_euscia0_uart_01.c" but the echo is always the same ([05]’[00][00][04]€þí), no matter what I am typing in. In addition to that the UART signal does not seem to be transmitted to the MSP430FR6047 itself. I was not able to measure any signal with an oscilloscope at the jumpers and the echo was always the same, even when I disconnected all jumpers to the MSP430FR6047. What is happening here?

So how do I contact the right chip? I also tried to connect the MSP430FR6047 directly by using an external power supply and sending the signal to the RXD and TXD jumpers. In this case Termite is not able to connect to the device: "Waiting for port... Failed to initialze the port. Please verify the COM port settings." I am shure that I chose the rigth port because there was just one given.

In the end I want to have the MSP430FR6047 to send the flow informations via UART directly to my computer, without the onboard emulator. Do I have to adapt the example software for this case?

Thanks for some answers

Kathrin
