MSP430F2370: Wrong DCO constants after flashing

Hi team,

Can you please answer the following customer question?

A problem has occurred in production with devices on which the MSP430F2370 is installed. The internal DCO constants seem to be completely off. The devices are RF devices, which initialize the RF chip via the internal DCO. If the initialization goes wrong, the application in the device will not start. Now we have a batch of devices where 30 out of 60 devices did not start.
However, flashing the devices via JTAG went as usual. We use the Elpotronic FlasPro 430 or the Elpotronic GangPro 430 for flashing. The following is set there:

We have now opened the devices and flashed them via BSL. Now the devices are running. 2 devices, however, I do not get to run, there the DCO verification fails repeatedly.

Do you have an idea what this could be? Was there possibly a faulty batch?

Hi Franz,

I would first ask the customer if this is new programming behavior? In other words, they have been successfully programming for years and now recently they see this issue?

There is an errata regarding the DCO not starting. See BCL12 and BCL13 in the errata document.

Let me know what you discover.

Hello,
We have been producing units with the same firmware for about 5 years. Although there are sometimes very isolated units that have similar problems, this has now occurred more frequently in one batch (greater than or equal to 50%).
I also read out the DCO constants. They are not at 0xFF, but have a plausible value, but the frequencies are clearly off the target values.

Hello Simon,

These most recent failures are all from the same batch (same date/lot code information - either from the device or shipping/packaging material they came in)?

yes, all CPUs are from one roll. The following is written on the CPU next to the type designation for the CPU:

Hi Simon,

For for the long delay on this. Can you provide an example of the DCO calibration values on a good unit and on one where the resulting frequencies are not correct?
