MSP430F5419A: How to reprogram the factory bootloader

Hello,

When playing around with locking & unlocking the JTAG port, I ended up mass erasing the bootloader. I used Uniflash to look at the memory, and at 0x1000 it is all erased (all 0xFF).

So where do I get the factory bootloader so I can reprogram it?

I don't want to customize the bootloader in any way; I want to reload the same bootloader that is on brand new MSP430F5419A parts.

Hi,

I'm afraid that you already erasing the bootload and infomemo with TLV data. Please read out the memo if possible and check the data @ 0x1A00 to 0x1A2C, if the data exists, if can be recovered by reprogrammed BSL code. If nothing exists, you need replace the chip.

Hawken, for F5xx family TLV is ROM, and flash info memory (including segment A) is free for user.

Derek, I have all factory BSL for devices I use dumped on side (unfortunately, not for F5419), to have it just in case like your. If you want identical BSL binary, only way is to dump it from identical device (same batch). Other way is to look in TI BSL sources to older BSL version (if you remember original version of erased BSL), compile it and flash device without BSL.

Hello, I used Uniflash : Memory Browser and it looks like the TLV data is still there, from 0x1A00 to 0x1A8F. I would have been surprised if the device's mass-erase also erased those too. That would have been bad.

Perfect, thanks. I read the bootloader manual and verified that the '5438A loader will work with the '5419A that I'm using.

Datasheet for 5419 and 5438 is the same, and BSL pins too (P1.1 and P1.2).

I have factory binary for 5435 (non A) and can attach it here if this can help.
