MSP-FET and CCS V6 updates

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET

Hi, I am able to download free license of CCS V6.  Example codes compiled properly. While downloading code, it displays following message ,

MSP430: Error initializing emulator: A firmware update is required for the MSP430 Debug Interface (MSP-FET430UIF / MSP-FET / eZ-FET). Click the "Update" button to update the firmware and launch your debug session (this may require several update steps).  DO NOT UNPLUG THE INTERFACE DURING THE UPDATE.

MSP430: Error: MSP-FET / eZ-FET legacy module update failed.

Tried to update , but it fails.

Ez-FET of 5969 launchpad is detected as “MSP Application UART1”.

But it is not shown in CCS to connect to target.

Kindly suggest.

  • Atul,

Below I have attached a solved thread pertaining to MSP-FET driver issues. Please go through the suggested solutions and see if this solves your problem.

I have also run into this issue once before and was able to resolve it by attempting to download the code onto the device from a different computer. Once I successfully updated the MSP-FET on the second computer, I was able to return to the original and all worked fine.

    Hope this helps,

  • I just had the same problem.
    CCS 6.1.2 with MSP-FET.
It was enough to let the update of the MSP-FET firmware finish on another computer.
Then i connected it again on my computer, let it update again (CCS on another computer was 6.1.0) and it worked without problems.
This is a really annoying bug/problem. I feared the MSP-FET got bricked.
There should be some sort of Reset for the MSP-FET/CCS update mechanism.
