MSP430FR6989: CCS 10.3 The Energytrace window is empty

Part Number: MSP430FR6989
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ENERGYTRACE

Energytrace windows are gone crazy.

I clicked X and I close EnergyTrace++ window. Only Power, states, Energy sub-windows stayed  visible. I de attach the power window and now I can't detach it
Also, the main  Energytrace++ or EnergyTrace window is empty.

The detach option just change the height of the window.

I want your advice on how to restore the functionality of window.

Also I want to be able to run Energytrace++ at Run mode not only at debug mode.

  • Hi Minas,

What version of CCS are you using? I'm using CCS v10.1 and when I close the EnergyTrace window, everything goes away including the Power and Energy tabs.

If you detach a tab, you can always click, hold and drag the detached tab back to the EnergyTrace window. It will re-attach. If that doesn't work for you for some reason, you could always create another project. That should reset the view back to default.

Also I want to be able to run Energytrace++ at Run mode not only at debug mode.

Only EnergyTrace mode is available with stand-alone running applications (see Table 4-1 in Code Composer Studio IDE v10.x for MSP430 MCUs user's guide).

  • As you can see in the title the version of CCS is 10.3
When I close the main window which corresponds to EnergeTrace all sub-windows go away. The problem is that the main window is empty. No solution found in E2e.ti.com solved the problem.

The simplest solution is to Uninstall and reinstall CCS

You are right. I missed that, thanks.

When I close the main window which corresponds to EnergeTrace all sub-windows go away. The problem is that the main window is empty. No solution found in E2e.ti.com solved the problem.

What happens when you try to re-open EnergyTrace in CCS during an active debug session? In CCS, click Tools > EnergyTrace. For me, after I close the EnergyTrace window, I am able to re-open in consistently in CCS.

  • SOLUTION

I delete all .xxxx files found in the workspace directory.

I don't know which file is responsible but now EnergyTrace restored to default.
