    Thanks for posting on the forum. Just a quick question before going into the schematic review, are you requesting a review because you were having problems getting a motor to spin or just as a sanity check?

    Schematic Feedback:

    1)For INx pins, there are 10k ohm pulldown resistors but the device already contains internal pulldown resistors so these would be unnecessary.

    2)Pull up resistors used for NFAULT, NCOMPO 100k ohm resistors were used but typically we recommend using values 5k-10k ohms, NRESET and NSLEEP are always pulled up high so device does not have the option to go into sleep or reset. They can be pulled up using the MCU to allow access to sleep and resets.

    3)CPL and CPH  capacitor, the datasheet specifies a .01uF ceramic capacitor, verify that they are VM rated.

    4)Bulk Capacitors C1 and C2 going from 12V_I/P do not have a value listed on the schematic. We recommend using 0.1uF capacitors, and recommend for them to be rated 1.5 to 2 times the value of your supply. On our EVM we also include a 10uF capacitor to ground.

                                                               

    5)R1 value on schematic left blank, but just wanted to let you know that this resistor is optional.

    6)ENx and INx are considered logic high by applying 2.2V - 5.25V, not part of the schematic but I thought the information might be helpful.

    VM rated ceramic capacitor, what exactly it means?

    is it capacitor should be rated for 100VDC with X7R dielectric??

  • Hello Murthy,

    No worries glad to help out. By VM rated I mean a capacitor that can handle the max voltage you expect to see on VM which is your supply, we typically use a margin of 1.5 to 2 times the value of your supply. Since the device max is 60 and you have to account for any spikes, a 100VDC with X7R dielectric should be more than enough.
