DRV8871: Replacing DRV8871 with DRV8870 in mass production.

Hi,

Because of the supply problem, I consider replacing DRV8871 with DRV8870 in mass production. Discarding the IChip feature is acceptable. I wonder if it's theoretically feasible?

Hello, Xiaodong,

The only concern is the DRV8870 VREF setting. Can make the pin 4 voltage higher than 0.3V.

How about making the DRV8870 pin 4 floating? Will the pin 4 voltage be higher than 0.3V stably?

Drv8872 looks better than drv8870 to replace drv8871, have you any concern in this usage?

We can not allow DRV8870's pin 4 floating.

Yes. DRV8872 is more better to replace DRV8871. I don't have any concern. Also, the following link gives the comparison:
