DRV8434: Regarding trip current accuracy vs DRV8881E

Hi support team.

My customer asked me regarding trip current accuracy.

Which is better for trip current accuracy compared to DRV8881E in the following settings? (Use the same stepper.)
The error of the resistor that sets VREF is the same for both.

Full scale current setting: 400mA or 410mA

-DRV8881E settings
Sense resistance: 0.3Ω ± 1%
TRQ ＝ TRQ ＝ L (100%)
TOFF = 10us
DECAY = Smart tune or Mixed

-DRV8434E settings
TOFF = 7us
DECAY = Smart tune or MIxed

Hi Higa san,

Thank you for your question.

Normally we recommend DRV8434E which is newer generation device for stepping motor family. It has smart tune ripple control which is new method to reduce ripple.

However, if customer use 1% external resistor, accuracy itself could be better in DRV8881E since DRV8434E accuracy is 6 to 12% range with 400mA, DRV8881 could be ~5+% range with 1% external resistor.
