DRV8718-Q1: how to configure DRV8718-Q1 to drive 4x H bridge?

Dear team,

For DRV8714-Q1, we have the BRG_MODE, but DRV8718-Q1 doesn't have such register. Can our DRV8718-Q1 drive 4x H bridge? If so, how do we set the mode?

DRV8718-Q1 only has 4x PWM, IN1&IN2 can control the first H bridge, and IN3&IN4 can control the second H bridge. Then which pins can control the third and forth H bridge?

Hey Sherry,

I believe for the DRV8718 you will set up the half-bridge HS / LS configuration in the BRG_CTRL1 and BRG_CTRL2 registers, and then enable drivers with the EN_DRV bit in the IC_CTRL1 Register. (Link). You could also use two DRV8718 and use one half-bridge for the low side and the other for the high side: https://e2e.ti.com/support/motor-drivers-group/motor-drivers/f/motor-drivers-forum/1092796/drv8718-q1-two-drv8718-to-cross-drive-one-h-bridge

This driver uses PWM mapping to control each half-bridge. See Table 8-4. Half-Bridge PWM Mapping (HBx_PWM) in 8.3.3.1.1 DRV8718-Q1 Half-Bridge Control. You could set HB1 and HB7 to be controlled by IN1 for example.
