DRV8706S-Q1EVM: Unable to connect GUI to Eval Board

Are you using the GUI in the cloud or did you download it from the website. If you haven't already tried this, can you try the cloud-based GUI:

Hey Theodor, 

Did you update the firmware on the EVM by clicking File, Program Device? There might have been a firmware update, if the GUI and FW versions are mismatched it can cause it to not connect depending on what changes were made. 

And did you click the appropriate variant selector box on the right?  Often the GUI will attempt to connect from this home screen and fail, but will succeed if you select the variant.

I have tried to update the firmware but without success.

I have also tried it with the variant selector but it got stuck.

I have also tried it with a second Eval PCB but without success, too.

All voltages seems to be correct. LED D5 is flashing, LED D4 is on, LED D3 is on. I can see that a COM port is connected.

Is there some jumper missing, which is not showen in the manual?

Sorry you're having these issues.  Oh my bad about the update firmware, I didn't realize that this EVM needed the external MSP-FET to update it.  Don't worry about firmware update, shouldn't be needed.

Can you try installing the FTDI drivers from here?  https://ftdichip.com/products/ft232rl/#tab-drivers_tab  Shouldn't be needed but sometimes fixes it.  

No jumpers on that EVM to be missing for communication.  

Another thing you could try is opening an older version of the GUI - https://dev.ti.com/gallery/search/DRV87xx_DRV8106-Q1EVM?s=pushed_at:desc like 0.5.4

Actually, can you confirm which version of the GUI you tried?  Looks like 1.2.2 is the newest: https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/MotorDriversBSM/DRV8x06_DRV8705-Q1EVM-GUI/ver/1.2.2/
