MCF8316A: Motor Studio JavaScript Error

I recently downloaded TI Motor Studio to continue development of a MCF8316A-based project, I have an MCF8316AEVM which I am using to familiarize myself with the device. Upon launching Motor Studio the app never recognizes the EVM board until I re-plug the
USB cable. With the cable re-plugged I select the MCF8316A and then select Proceed upon which I get the following error:

I select OK to clear the error screen, check 'Hardware setup has been done manually', click Setup Completed, then select Quick Spin. The app does not produce anything further, but just hangs trying to build the page.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Hi Dan,

Couple of questions: Have you updated the EVM FW (MSP430) with new Hex file . Please note that old EVM (MSP430) is not compatible with new GUI. Which OS are you using? Windows/Mac?

Hi Venkatadri,

Thanks for the reply. I have not updated the EVM firmware. I have downloaded the hex file. What is the procedure for updating the firmware? Is a programmer necessary? I am on a Windows 10 machine.
