MCF8316AEVM: EVM doesnt getting detected with Offline and Online (Web) GUI

Dear Resolver,

The MCF8316AEVM is not getting detected in the windows 10 x64 pc. (Both in Offline and Online versions)
Though we have FTDI Drivers pre-installed.

Kindly help us thru.

Hi Koushik,

It's likely that your MCF8316AEVM has the updated firmware that requires using the new Motor Studio GUI.

even after installing and using the GUI V0.1.12 the issue persists.

Hi Koushik,

Could you please help check in the Windows Device Manager, under the Ports (COM & LPT):
When you plug in your EVM to your PC, does the device appear as shown below?

If so, could you please try this exact sequence of procedure:

Power-off EVM and unplug USB from PC
Close Motor Studio
Turn on power supply to EVM
Plug in USB from EVM to PC
Launch Motor Studio
Wait and see if the GUI automatically detects and connect to the device.

Happy New year 2024!!

Thanks for your response.
When plugged into PC the board is getting detected at windows dev manager as per the port on PC say COM3
but motor studio doesnt recognize it no matter how many times we do the sequence of power down-unplug-close studio-power on-plug in-studio launch

Hi Koushik,

Would it be possible for you to follow the instruction in this E2E FAQ and use a MSP430 LaunchPad to reprogram the MSP430FR2355 firmware with the MCxEVM_MSP430FR2355_Firmware.out?

Afterwards, could you please try connecting to the EVM using the older GUI?
