DRV8343-Q1: Hardware configuration problem

Part Number: DRV8343-Q1

hi engineer,

Now we use DRV8343 have two Problems;

1. Through the hardware configuration circuit, the Mode foot is pulled to the ground, the mode is 6PWM mode, the GAIN foot is suspended, the current amplification system is configured to be 20 times, but the test is only 10 times.

2.The default dead time of the hardware configuration is 1us, but in many cases, this 1us has half the voltage, and it cannot be pulled down at all, which is not supported by the hardware or other interference.

  • Hi Ian,

    Thank you for your question!

    I will aim to provide a suggestion by the end of the week,  but due to the holidays further responses may be delayed the following week.

    Best Regards,

    -Joshua

  • Hey Ian,

    Thank you for your patience.

    Can you adjust the gain pin setting to test the other values (5/10/40) and determine if this behavior may only be related to the 20 gain setting?

    For the weak pull-down voltages seen,  can you try increasing the IDRIVE source/sink currents to a higher setting (first 2.7mA then higher) and observe the new behavior?

    Best Regards,

    -Joshua

  • Hi Joshua,

    we found this behavior  be related all gain setting values (5/10/40) ;

    Now we configure the GAIN of the amplifier through the register does not work, from the input of the internal amp to the output of the amp, the magnification can only be 10, can not be adjusted upward.

    You can help confirm whether the chip itself is the problem?

  • Hi Ian,  thanks for the update!

    The best way to confirm whether the chip itself is the issue would be to conduct an A-B-A swap with a new IC,  and if the behavior continues we can narrow down whether the issue is PCB layout/application related--or if things function normally--we can conclude that the IC itself is indeed damaged.

    That would be my next recommendation in this inquiry.

    Best Regards,

    -Joshua
