DRV8889-Q1: Issue with write and read the SPI register in DRV8889

Part Number: DRV8889-Q1

Hello Team!

I just want to know how we get to know the suitable DCR value for DRV8889, does it been mentioned in data sheet?

Regards,

Agnideep.

  • Hi Agnideep,

Like I mentioned in my reply to your original question we determined what Steppers' DCR was best suitable for stall detection with the DRV8889-Q1 by performing bench tests with various stepper motors in our lab. The actual parameter of interest is the back EMF which tends to be low at low step rates and with higher than 10 ohms DCR stepper motors. With certain steppers with DCR of even 18 or 20 ohms and suitable VM supply and STEP rates stall will be functional. So it varies motor to motor depending on the back EMF constant of the stepper. This is not a datasheet parameter of the device because it is a motor dependent and its use case dependent behavior. Thanks.
