ULC1001-DRV290XEVM: ULC1001-DRV290XEVM

Part Number: ULC1001-DRV290XEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2901, ULC1001

Hello I would like to ask a question regarding the inductor L1 and L2 in the EVM.

There are some information and details that seems not clear to me. I heard that the inductor used is SRP7050TA-220M:

  • The inductor value in the schematic is 27uH but that inductor is 22uH. How to select the value of the inductor? What kind of effect the inductor's value can have?
  • the current rating of the inductor is just 2.5A but the overcurrent limit is around 12A set by R17 (22kohm connected to OC_ADJ pin of DRV2901) many details in the schematic just show that we require high current for the output pin of DRV2901 and J5 connector connected to the piezo, but the inductor's current is very low. Could you provide more details about the required current for that section to properly select the components?

Thank you very much for your cooperation.

  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out. Could you confirm where you are seeing 27uH? You are correct, L1 and L2 in the EVM are 22uH. The purpose of the LC filter consisting of L1, L2, and C60 on the output of DRV2901 is to provide additional voltage boost. This LC filter is something that must be optimized to the final lens cover being used, as you need to know the impedance response. Fine tuning the LC filter will require some trial and error to find the configuration best fit.

The current rating of the inductor is based on the current requirements of your load or LCS. We have the LC filter on our EVM optimized to our LCS prototype. The higher current ratings for OCP and the output terminal are included to provide variability to the EVM. This way a broad range of lens covers can be tested with the EVM. The OCP setting can be lowered if desired via R17.

  • I have 2 versions of the EVM user guide

    the first one SLAU880A – DECEMBER 2022 – REVISED FEBRUARY 2023 in which L1 and L2 are 27uH

    the second one SLAU880B – DECEMBER 2022 – REVISED APRIL 2023 in which L1 and L2 are 22uH

    • Could you provide us the piezo P/N used with the EVM so we can know its current requirement?
      • THe document we have Design Guide: ULC1001
Ultrasonic Lens Cleaner Design: 20.0 mm Aperture, 168°
        FOV, Circular Flat Lens : SLAA975A – DECEMBER 2020 – REVISED MAY 2021.
        Doesn't contain such information
    • Are DRV2901 and ULC1001 available to purchase in smaller quantities? In your website ULC1001 MOQ is 3000 and DRV2901 MOQ is 2000. If no, how can we purchase them as we are currently in the prototype phase. Thanks.
  • Hello,

Sure, our LCS-FL-CYL20 has been made with transducers from APC and Steminc. Here are the exact part numbers:

Yes, you should be able to order small quantities of both. I believe the 3000 and 2000 you are referring to is the amount for a full reel. I reached out over email with some more information regarding ULC1001 orders.
