DRV8350R: Unused Buck Regulator

Tool/software:

Hi,

If I'm not using the internal DC-DC converter of the DRV8350RHRGZ, is it okay to connect all pins to GND?

Or, since VCC is the internal regulator output, in order to maintain stable operation, should I not connect the VCC pin directly to GND, but rather connect a 0.47 µF capacitor between the VCC pin and GND?

Please comment on what I should be careful about when handling pins when not using the internal DC-DC converter.

Thanks,

Conor

  • Hi Conor,

    Thank you for your question.

It is best to connect all unused buck converter pins to GND, especially VIN as that will not allow the converter to be powered.

If not desired to use the Buck in this device, we actually offer non-buck (R) variants (DRV8350H/S).

    Hope this information is helpful.

    Best Regards,
