DRV8872-Q1: the risk for PWM frequency = 330kHz

Part Number: DRV8872-Q1

Hi team

from the datasheet, the maximum frequency is 200Khz. customer use DRV8872, PWM frequency is 300Khz, minimum on time of output PWM is 1.57us. rising time is 118ns, falling time is 60ns. is there any risk?

TI does not guarantee operation outside datasheet recommended operating conditions.

The DRV8872-Q1 gate driver and its output stages are not designed to support 300 kHz switching operation at the targeted operating currents. Even if it works usable duty cycle range will be ~ 30% to 70% for control and of course 0 and 100 % will be supported (no PWM needed). The switching loss at 300 kHz PWM drive with the specified load current will be high and likely result in overtemperature OTSD. These are the risks. These risks cannot be mitigated for the same level of current switching so using reduced drive current may be an option. Did the customer test this with an EVM? Customer should characterize this with their load and operating conditions with an EVM and decide if the derated specification would work for them. Thank you.
