MCT8329EVM: More than 1kW

Hi Babji,

Using parallel MOSFET is okay as long as we make sure MOSFET tuning on, off are not time shifting relative to each other.

I will provide more information by Thursday.

Can you share Voltage and current rating?

Hi Venkatadri,

I have a concern about the driver (MCT8329A) since the product page states it supports only up to 1 kW.

1. Voltage = 50.4V (12S), Current = 40A (continuous)
2. Voltage = 25.2V (6S), Current = 60A (continuous)

The EVM is expected to operate under both conditions.

How many MOSFETS in parallel you want to use?

Device max Gate source is max 1A and sink 2A, please verify if this meets the demand.

We need to make sure and consider for the  50V that abs max of MCT8329 is 65V (abs max).

Hi Venkatadri,

I want to use 2 mosfets in parallel. 

As per the above calculator, we are not using any external Rgs. So, it is showing some errors.

Could you provide the single pulse maximum turn-on time (in µs or ms) from the driver to the MOSFET gate? This will help me determine, based on the MOSFET's safe operating region, whether one mosfet is sufficient or if two are needed.

Thanks for allowing time for me to respond.

Single pulse avalanche is for MOSFET specific, for the driver we can estimate how long the single pulse and energy from below list

1. Gate drive current is internally limited with max 1A source and 2A sink

2. PWM timing 10 to 75KHz with duty is limited by single shunt blanking time (lowest is 0.25us) and dead time. Average it will be above 95% we can see.

3. GLX voltage is 20V

In the calculator did you type #N/A  for Rg field ?

Yes, We made the changes in the calculator as you suggested (Rg).

Based on the calculator, we want to clarify few things.

1. In the calculator, which device to be selected?

2. Based on the output given by the calculator Qg, how to select no. of mosfets we could use?
