MCT8316ZTEVM: Use the default HW version for testing. the DIR switch S2 does not work.

FYI, I tried to switch direction when the motor is not spinning. either nSLEEP is on or PWM duty cycle is zero.

DIR pin is not recommended to use when motor is driven, this may cause fast retardation and can cause damage for some motors with high inertia.

can you also please help me check whether the motor driver can help realize motor torque control, given that we had an external force torque sensor to provide force feedback.

Can you provide me more details?

If you are looking for torque control you can refer to FOC based solution but they are sensor less solutions (example: MCF8316C-Q1).

Thanks. I got the problem solved. do you have any recommendations about gate integrated sensored BLDC motor driver, we would like to use it for position and torque control.

also. is there a upper limit of the rpm value that can be identified by the motor driver. I am planning to use this motor driver for the control of a slotless and coreless BLDC motor. I am not sure if MCT8316Z works on high speed rotation.

Sensor based solutions are Trapezoidal based control.

The position control is not available and there is not sensor-based solution in FOC products.

Slot less BLDC are sinusoidal and lesser inductance.

What is the inductance of the motor?

Thanks! The two motors I am working on are 2-pole 3-phase slotless and brushless DC motors, their phase-to-phase terminal inductance are 120 µH and 285 µH, respectively. For the hardware variant MCT8316ZT, the PWM frequency is 20Hz by default for 100% duty cycle. What if I want to increase the PWM frequency to 40 or 50 kHZ, what would be the recommended PWM frequency and corresponding max duty cycle? 

Also, based on what you said, it seems that MCT8316TZ does not apply to the motors that I am working on. Do you have any recommendations about motor drivers? these two motors come with gearbox and hall effect sensors.

The parameter is fine with MCT8316Z.

Because it is sensor based, we don't see issue with BEMF or minimum speed.

You can evaluate MCT8316Z with your motor and we can look at tuning to improve the performance.
