MCT8315Z: Is there any way to make the motor have holding torque?（MCT8315Z/MCT8316Z）

Tool/software:

We use the MCT8315Z as a motor driver chip. During use, we found that the BRAKE function can only decelerate the motor rotation speed to zero. However, we hope that the motor still has holding torque when the speed is zero, similar to a real brake. Is it possible to achieve this function, for example, through a specific PWM+F/R signal?

Hi Dylan,

This device has Low side brake, which means it turns on low side FETs which breaks the motor if motor rotates.

There is no holding torque, if you need we have in sensorless FOC device MCF8316D.

Thank you very much for your reply. We need some starting torque, so we considered the sensored solution, but after hearing your reply, we are also willing to try the sensorless FOC solution. We have read some information and want to know the differences between MCF8315A, MCF8315C and MCF8315D. Thank you again.
