DRV8432 OC_adj and AGND

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPL0501-100

Hi,

I am posting this because my previous questions were not fully answered.

I want to set the OC_adj with two  TI TPL0501-100 in series. I have asked this question previously and the answer was "it is possible".  But I have a new question. That is, to what should I connect the ground pin of the  TPL0501-100 connect. Is it analog OR digital ground ?

Secondly the word "volatile memory" in the TPL0501-100, does it mean that the programmed value goes away at a power off condition OR does the programmed value go away time to time and I should be writing the resistor value constantly / periodically?

Regards

  • Hi Gehan

Just want to reply your last post, since you post new one, let us start here.

If you have ground split on your PCB layout, you can connect the "GND" pins of your two TPL0501-100 to the digital ground (No motor driver current passes across ) and "LA" of your lower TPL0501-100 to "AGND" pin of DRV8432. Please refer to our EVM layout. Just consider your two digital pots on TPL0501-100 together as the R6 on our DRV8432EVM.

For your second question, I didnot found the words "volatile memory" in its datasheet. Anyway digital pots may have less accuracy and stability to normal resistor. My suggestion is to make a simple prototype or test about your concern. Also please wait for TI data convertor experts to give the comments of your last post on their forum.

    Thanks and Regards
