DRV8301 outputs GVdd and AVdd

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8301

Can I from those outputs pins  the external circuit (load 1-3 mA) to supply?

  • Brudny,

Both of them are not meant to drive external load. Can you be more specific here and tell us more detail of end use case?

  • Hi Milan,

Yes I know, that they are not meant to drive external load. But I want to supply a comparator from GVdd (max 3 mA) and 74HCT1G14 from AVdd (max. 2 mA)

    best regards

  • Hi Zbyno,

The GVDD regulator is used for the gate bias of the external MOSFETs. It is fairly robust and can source ~30mA (shown in the datasheet as total average gate drive current). As long as you are not using the entire 30mA for the gate drive you should be ok using this to drive an external load.

I would not recommend using the AVDD regulator to source another supply. Both the AVDD and DVDD regulators are used to run the internal logic of the DRV8301. Though they may be able to source the current desired, this could have unintended side effects as this is not an intended use case for the regulators.
