Hi everyone,

I am working on the motor driver and for this,i need a DRV8301-RM48 kit. Lifecycle is "End of Life" on Mouser. What is the altarnative to this kit? Motor control library for C2000 series is supplied on TI website. But not available for Hercules. I must use a Cortex and Safety MCU. After getting such a kit, Will I be able to access the safety motor control library for Herkules?

    Hello Onur,

    You are correct that the DRV8301 kit has been discontinued. As an alternative we recommend use of one of our Hercules launchpads (LAUNCHXL2-RM57L or LAUNCHXL2-RM46) together with the DRV3205 EVM. This post, e2e.ti.com/.../642005, in the motor driver forum has more information but seems to indicate that the example code is setup for the TMS570 versions of the devices and specifically the LAUNCHXL2-TMS57012 board which has a TMS570LS1224 PGE device on it (TMS570 version of the RM46L830 PGE device).


    Although the specific device on this launchpad does not support ethernet, there are versions of this device that do support it similar to the RM48. If more Flash is needed, its a different story moving to the RM48 series since the RM48 series does not have the ePWM and eCAP timer modules and there would be a need to develop the NHET programs to support the operation with the DRV3205 driver chip.

    Thanks for your quick answer. TMS570LS1224 (TMS570 Series for Automotive) is more suitable for me. I will use LAUNCHXL2-TMS57012 and DRV3205 EVM. I'm asking again; Motor control library for only C2000 series is supplied on TI website. Is there a library that only supports tms570xx ? I have reviewed the forums but have not found a suitable result.

    I will use TMS570LS0714-PGE in practice. Are there differences between TMS570LS1224 and  TMS570LS0714-PGE in motor control ?
