Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Feedback from customer on previous question:

It seems it does not work in Altium 18 or 19 but does in 16.  My coworker tried it with administrator rights on 19 and got a different error. I was using 18.

  • Mike,

Please post a screenshot of the error.

    Regards,

    -Adam

  • Here is the error in altium 19

For altium 18:for some reason I can't reproduce the problem that triggers the error but the PcbLib that is generated is empty.

  • Mike,

I have sent your post to the Altium admins and they will get back to us soon.

    Regards,

    -Adam

  • Mike,

    Response from the team:

Looks like Altium errors vs. a problem with the ultralibrarian .bxl.

In Altium 18, he is not seeing the footprint appear.

    • The reason for this is that in later versions of Altium, some styles of components do not appear automatically in the main library pane. To make the footprint appear, the user should navigate to the “PCB Library” tab (usually located in the bottom left corner of the screen). Once you are in the PCB Library view, double-click on the footprint name and the footprint should now appear (this info is also displayed in our FAQ section).

In Altium 19, he is getting the “GetFontID” error.

    • The “GetFontID” error is an issue that was introduced with the release of Altium Designer 19 and affected the scripting files we use to generate Altium components. However, we have fixed this issue with the more recent versions of the Ultra Librarian software.

If the user is using an older version of the Ultra Librarian Free Reader (version 8.3.103 or older), I recommend downloading the latest version here: https://www.ultralibrarian.com/products/free-reader. We are currently using the 8.3.141 version of software. The more recent software includes bug fixes that specifically identify the “GetFontID” error. Alternately, the user can use our Online Reader to export to the CAD tool of their choice without downloading software.

      • The TI website has a link to download the UL Free Reader, but it is a really old version, circa November 2016 (version 8.1.204). If possible, I would recommend updating this link to the current version of software, so that the software that TI users are downloading directly from the site has the most up to date bug fixes and enhancements. Frank can provide this to the TI team should they choose to update.

In this instance, neither of the failures the user is having is due to the actual .bxl file itself.

    Regards,

    -Adam
