DRV8711: TDRIVEP, TDRIVEN/I_VM condition

Part Number: DRV8711

Hi team,

My customer provided some questions as follows.

  1. In terms of TDRIVEP and TDRIVEN, do these mean maximum on time of FET?
If it's yes, if the customer set TBLANK as 1us and TDRIVEx as 250ns, in this case on time should be 250ns.
    Is this understanding correct?
  2. Datasheet 6.5 shows that I_VM is 17mA(typ)/20mA(max).
What is condition of this value?
    e.g.
Is this value with driving FET or w/o driving?
What is load of Internal Regulator(output 10mA current or open)?

I'm looking forward to hearing back from you.

Best regards,

Shota Mago

  • Hello Shota,

Question 1: In terms of TDRIVEP and TDRIVEN, do these mean maximum on time of FET? If it's yes, if the customer set TBLANK as 1us and TDRIVEx as 250ns, in this case on time should be 250ns.

[Answer]: As specified in section 7.3.6 on the datasheet, the TBLANK sets the minimum ON time of the PWM. In your example, the minimum ON time will be 1us. TDRIVEP and TDRIVEN does not change the PWM time.

Question 2: Datasheet 6.5 shows that I_VM is 17mA(typ)/20mA(max).What is condition of this value?

[Answer]: The values were obtained while the device was awake with VM=24 and without driving or connected to any external loads.
