DRV8301: DRV8301 reset method

Part Number: DRV8301

Hi there,

Could you please help answer the question from our customer?

Since PVDD1 is connected to the same power supply as the BLDC motor, when the voltage is pulled below 6V, the DRV8301 is not controlled when it is restored, and there is a problem that the MOS is always turned on to cause a large current.

Is there any way to avoid it? Or enable the DRV8301 to reset under uninterrupted power.

  • Eason,

Could you explain your comments: "the DRV8301 is not controlled when it is restored"?

The DRV8301 has undervoltage protection which should put the external FETs into hi-z when PVDD drops below the PVDD_UV threshold.

The DRV8301 also has Rgate_off which should ensure that the gates inputs are pulled low by ~2kohm internal resistance if the chip loses power.

What is the condition of the other control pins and power supplies when your PVDD1 drops low?

    Regards,

    -Adam

  • Eason,
