Hello Team,
my customer would like to know the effects of gate resistance on dead time. Did we do any evaluation in this direction? With different gate resistances and maybe different dead time settings?
Thank you,
Benjamin

Benjamin,
Thanks for posting on the MD forum!
We cannot test the effect of gate resistance on turn on time because it is highly dependent on Board layout and FET selection.
From a device mechanism standpoint, the adjustable gate drive strength can remove the need for a gate resistor. Once you have your board, we recommend starting with the lowest current setting (IDRIVE) and monitoring the Gate-to-source voltage to ensure that there is minimal ringing/overshoot/undershoot while still giving you the output rise time needed. If you need faster rise time, add more IDRIVE as long as there is minimal ringing/overshoot/undershoot.
Gate resistors can be used optionally.
