DRV2605: Edit the embedded haptic effects by adjust those four parameters(ODT,SPT,SNT,BRT)

Part Number: DRV2605
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2604, DRV2624

1、The preset effects contain three parts: Overdrive, Sustain, brake. Can I set these four parameters (ODT,SPT,SNT,BRT) to extend the duration of the vibration without changing the Overdrive and brake? (for example, the default duration of strong Click effect is 65ms. Can I extend it to 1000ms? This can be done in RTP mode, but there are no Overdrive and brake parts.

2、If I can adjust the duration of embedded haptic effects. Which parameter do I need to adjust to extend the duration of vibration and how to set?

Thank you very much for your excellent engineers. My technical level is limited, but I am in a hurry to achieve the goal. I hope to get your help. Thanks again!

  • Hi,

Unfortunately, the embedded haptic effects duration cannot be modified due to the Immersion licence agreement (point 2 of section 11.1). The overdrive, sustain and brake are the only parameters that can be adjusted, but the duration is not available for modification.

You would need to send your own effects with PWM interface or select another device with integrated RAM waveform sequencer such the DRV2604 or DRV2624.

  • THX~

1、I am very sorry I didn`t say it clearly. What I mean is increasing the sustain parameter to increase the duration of strong click~.  BUT,I found the reason from those words in another post:“ Since there is little or no sustain portion in the waveform for the Strong Click, the SPT/SNT cannot increase nor decrease the non-existent portion of the wave”

2、“the register 0x0d and 0x10 are only useful in open loop mode.”---from another post. How can I change the mode to open mode?

  • Hi,

Open loop and closed loop (auto resonance for LRA) modes are selected with register 0x1D.

Bit 5 is used to configure the loop for an ERM load and Bit 1 is used to configure the loop for an LRA.
