DRV11873: TI BLDC motor drivers, general question about electrically frequency

Part Number: DRV11873

Dear TI,

I ordered the DRV11873 driver and the Evaluation Board also to develop this driver for a unique application, but I noticed when I tried the EV board, that the electrically frequency is maximum 1000Hz which is not enough for my project.

I found some thread about this, but it's look like the other BLDC 3 phase sensorless drivers not able to reach higher electrically frequency than 1000Hz.

Could you please help me or suggest me an other TI BLDC driver, which is able to reach higher electrically frequency? Perhaps in the meantime something new has appeared on the market.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

B.R.

  • Hi David,

Thanks for posting in MD forum! Unfortunately, TI does not have any device in DRV10x family that can support higher electrical frequency. My suggestion is to use TI's smart gate drivers (DRV8x family) + External FETs + External MCU as shown below. Let me know if you are interested in DRV8x family so that I can redirect you to an expert in this family.

    Regards,

    Vishnu.

  • Hi Vishnu,

Thank you for your reply and the confirmation about the DRV10x family. I will check the DRV8x family, but primarily I looking for a compact simple solution for my project, I don't want many external components due to space requirements.

    Thank you.
