Hi,
We are designing a respirator using brushed DC motor. Motor is 12V 6A rated. Can I use DRV8873-Q1 for this purpose or should I use DRV8703 with external N channel MOSFETs. And which microcontroller is suitable for this application.

Hello, Rahul
It depends on how big the continuous current will be when you spin the motor and the thermal performance on PCB. DRV8873 can handle up to 10A peak current. The continuous current it can drive will heavily rely on the PCB thermal dissipation design. External MOSFETs with gate driver eg. DRV8701 offers much better thermal performance at high current. And with smart gate driver technology, it won’t cost much design effort.
