DRV8711 absolute max. ratings for ISENSEx

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8711

Dear experts!

We are using DRV8711 at 48VDC and up to 6.5A setpper.

We found about 700-800 mV spikes on ISENSEx pins (see waveform and schematic below).

Is it safety or not?

  • Hi Aleksey,

Are these spikes real or a result of the scope ground position. The spike indicates a current of approximately 18A through the sense resistor for a short period of time. Is there a capacitor in the system causing this current spike?

Can you check the ISENSx pins differentially with respect to the ground pin of the DRV8711?

In general, small spikes above +/-.7V (Transients of ±1V for less than 25ns) are acceptable.
  • I am sorry, it was measuring fault.

It was BISENP signal respect to ground. Ground position was good, but probe ground wire path made a loop (far from probe). When I twisted probe ground wire around the probe, spike voltage became less than 400 mV. Time is about 20 nS. Differential signal has no spikes.

    Thank you for your idea.

I have no output capacitors. The whole schematic is:
