Dear TI team,
Do you have SPICE model or LTSPICE model for UCC25800 LCC resonant bias supply controller that can send me? I want to design a power supply using this controller and want to simulate it first.
On the TI website, I only see SIMPLIS model for this controller.
If not, could you please tell me a way I can simulate it in SPICE engine?
Thanks and regards,
Hi Van,
Currently we only have a Simplis model for UCC25800. I see plenty of references on the web for importing Spice models into Simplis but no Info for importing Simplis models into SPICE. I would suggest you work with application support groups inside LTSPICE and Simplis to try and resolve the issue. Most of TI new development projects will include Simplis models going forward. Thanks for connecting through E2E. If you are considering a new design with UCC25800, why not order the UCC25800EVM-1 and test the performance in the lab. You can order it directly from the TI Store. Thanks for connecting through E2E and good luck with your design.

Hi Steve,
I downloaded the model of UCC25800 from TI Website: https://www.ti.com/product/UCC25800-Q1#design-development##design-tools-simulation
However, It just includes a below schematic that can be opened in SIMPLIS. I see that there is no SIMPLIS model for UCC25800 inside and I cannot run this schematic in SIMPLIS. Could you please verify this issue? Thanks a lot.

Hi,
Unless you extract all the files included in the .zip, the simulation will not run and will appear as a "read only" schematic. Please extract all the contents into your local directory and run the simulation.

Hi Steven,
In the “Component Models” folder from the .zip file, I only see a model for Vishay Schottky Diode and a “Sync Source” file as below picture. There is no UCC25800 model available yet. Do I miss anything at this point?
Or is the UCC25800 buried inside the .sxsch file? I think this would not be the case.
Could you please confirm this point?
Thanks and regards,
Van,
I just downloaded and ran the simulation and it works as expected. The contents of the zip folder are exactly as you have shown. There is no UCC25800 model, it is included in the schematic (UCC2580-Q1_transientmodel) at the top level of the folder. Are you a Simplis user and comfortable using the tool? Are you using a free version of Simplis/SIMetrix that perhaps might be node limited and unable to run the UCC25800 simulation? As a test, try downloading and running the UCC12050 Simplis model here. Can you run it?
Here is the Simplis version I am running:

Dear Steve,
Thanks a lot for your detailed instructions. I am a new user to SIMPLIS and I am using free version. Indeed, this free version is not capable of running the simulation.
Your answer resolved my issues.

Alex
Alex,
Another way to learn the UCC25800 is to order the EVM. Do you have a TI account? You can visit the TI store here and order the UCC2500EVM and test it in the lab. Thanks for your interest in TI power management solutions.
