TPS2121: Technical issues

Part Number: TPS2121

Hi team,

I got a question from customer.I put it in word.

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards,

  • Hello Zhonghui,

Do you have a schematic of how the TPS2121 is configured? For fast switchover to be active the CP2 has to be greater than VREF... otherwise the slower switchover will occur.

  • Hi Logan,

    Thank you for your reply.

How to deal with voltage sag when switching slowly? I can't change the PCB now. I can only switch it slowly.

    Best regards

  • Hi Zhonghui,

Fast switchover will only work in systems that have CP2 high. Switchover time is defined as the time during which no input is passed to the output as these are break before make devices. If your system does not have CP2 high, then the device will default to slow switchover. When using slow switchover, features like soft start will slow down the rise time.

I would recommend redesigning the circuit to use fast switchover. Another option is to use heavy output capacitance to minimize the output drop. You will still see some output dip as the device will wait for the output to drop below the input before connecting the input rail to the output.

    Thanks,

    Shreyas
